Community members volunteer
at the Children’s Home of Easton in a variety of capacities.
Some people volunteer by working directly with the children while
others work through the agency to support the children. Some volunteers
devote their efforts to specific occasions and others volunteer
all year long. Other volunteers work one-on-one with a specific
student in our sponsor program.
Auxiliary - The
Children’s Home Auxiliary sponsors the Pink Ball, the oldest
charity ball in the area, every winter. This event raises money
for the Auxiliary, which sponsors events and activities
for our children year-round. Activities include: egg dyeing,
pumpkin carving, jewelry making and many exciting field trips to
such places as a music studio, raceway and snow tubing. The Children’s
Home Auxiliary also recognizes each child with a birthday card
and gift on their birthday. This is a dedicated, enthusiastic
group of volunteers, and we are grateful
for their hard work and genuine interest in the children. If you would like to
be a part of this wonderful group or would like more information on the Auxiliary,
please contact Sue Correia at 610-653-1468.
Sponsorship - Sponsors
provide extra support to the student’s
life with weekly contact over a period of time. Sponsors give the
students opportunity to learn positive values, build esteem
and creative positive relationships with adults not only on campus
but also in the community. Administration meets with sponsors on
a regular basis to provide support and direction.
Direct Volunteers - Direct
volunteers can help by providing tutoring assistance, teaching
a group of students a hobby, or assisting in transportation, recreation,
maintenance duties or specific events. We are always welcome to
suggestions and other program possibilities.
Indirect Volunteers - Indirect
volunteers can choose to help at Christmas time with the annual
WAEB Christmas Party. Help is always needed to prepare, decorate
and wrap gifts. Volunteer help is always welcome to prepare for
other holidays as well. We also have opportunities in our Thrift
Store or with on-ground improvement projects.
