Foster Care
In Pennsylvania, between 13,000 and 15,000 children and youth are currently in foster care. At The Children’s Home of Easton, we are committed to providing these children with safe, nurturing family environments where they can experience stability, support, and a sense of normalcy during uncertain times. Our foster care program serves children of all ages, each with unique strengths, experiences, and needs.

The children in foster care come from diverse backgrounds, but many share similar challenges. They have experienced trauma, instability, or family crises that led to their placement. Some are working toward reunification with their biological families. Others may need long-term support or a permanent, loving home. Regardless of their path, every child deserves:
-
Safety and consistency
-
Compassion and understanding
-
Emotional support
-
The opportunity to heal and grow
-
A family who believes in their potential

Foster families come from all walks of life. They may be:
-
Married couples or single individuals
-
Homeowners or renters
-
Parents with children at home or adults without children
There is no “perfect” foster parent — only individuals and families willing to open their hearts and homes to a child in need.
In addition to traditional foster care, we also offer Intensive Family-Based Foster Care for children who require additional support due to emotional delays, behavioral challenges, or significant trauma histories. These families receive enhanced guidance and resources to ensure children can succeed in a home-based setting.

To become a foster or adoptive parent in Pennsylvania, individuals must:
-
Be at least 21 years of age
-
Successfully complete all required background checks and clearances
-
Undergo a medical examination verifying good health and freedom from communicable diseases
The Children’s Home of Easton provides free, comprehensive training for all prospective foster families. Our training is flexible and coordinated by our Program Director to accommodate your schedule. Throughout the process — and beyond — families receive ongoing support, guidance, and case management.
